5 - My dog keeps running after other people

"Your dog shouldn't be off lead and allowed to jump on people. You teach how she is supposed to meet and greet people. The usual approach is to teach a sit...sit politely for petting. That stops helps to stop the jumping.

As for the pulling, she should be paying attention to you....looking for her sit cue so that she can meet the person but, you have to teach the sit and self-control to do that.

When you see something you think your dog will be interested in, give the sit immediately. When she puts her eyes on the target, say "look-at-that". As she continues looking at it, say "good look" and reward. Repeat as long as she is interested. If she tries to break the sit, give a leash pop and put her back into it.

After a while you won't have to give the commands anymore. She will know to sit and look on her own when she sees something interesting. But you can still use the commands as a reinforcement. And always reward your dog for staying under control."
